Enhancing Employee Synergy with a Robust Learning Experience Platform

BAWANA, a subsidiary of digital learning pioneer Netpolitan Group (established 2003), helps organizations improve employee competency through engaging training programs. With a proven track record, BAWANA has collaborated with many esteemed clients, including Allianz, Danamon, PermataBank, BRI, Telkomsel and 30 other Fortune 100 companies in Indonesia, to develop inspiring learning materials integrated into daily workflows.

Creating a scalable and customizable Learning Experience Platform (LXP) to foster social learning and content discovery for lifelong learners.

Recognizing BAWANA’s mission to be an all-inclusive app for holistic and social learning, Sixty Two undertook a platform overhaul of both the user and admin interfaces. Our primary focus was to create a more modular site structure to accommodate BAWANA’s need for creating a customised learning solution for each of their client.

Through this strategic partnership, we also identified new opportunities to empower BAWANA's key user groups—learners, managers, and administrators—to perform their tasks more effectively. This discovery of unique needs for each audience led to innovative and optimized workflows, further contributing to BAWANA's overall business success.

Beyond simply completing coursework through the app, we want learners to actively pursue growth. While our admin platform and educational library provide a strong foundation, engaging visuals and thoughtful content strategy are also key to creating an immersive learning experience.

Architecting a Seamless System for a Diverse User Base

As BAWANA tailors their learning solution for different clients, the platform needs to support customizable feature and branding. This requirement, coupled with the need to expand the existing platform, prompted us to establish a strong foundation with a scalable design framework. Through in-depth conversations with stakeholders, we gained a better understanding on the end-user’s need.

In addition, we conducted an extensive landscape analysis of similar platforms to explore potential solutions and synthesized these insights to create a holistic design framework for both the user and admin platforms. To support BAWANA’s core mission of redefining the learning experience and breaking free from the perception of "just another learning dashboard," we focused on strategies that prioritize content discovery and meaningful engagement. By transforming the navigation system and integrating collaborative social features, we created a platform that inspires exploration, fosters interaction, and elevates the overall learning journey.

Through discussions with stakeholders, we discovered that motivation is a key driver of active learning. To create a more engaging experience, we need to shift learners’ mindset from a task-oriented approach (centered on completing assignments) to an exploratory model, where content discovery and personal interests take center stage.

This means that learners need to be able to easily discover relevant content and feel intrinsically motivated to engage with courses, thus reducing reliance on administrators and managers to upskill their workforce.

How Might We shift the learning paradigm from a task-oriented approach to an exploratory model driven by content discovery and personal interest?

Designing a Learning Experience Platform (LXP) that Supports Flexible Learning

We’ve enhanced the BAWANA platform to empower learners by creating a more personalized and relevant educational experience. To support a flexible and on-demand learning experience, we crafted structural improvements to allow scalability within the homepage and navigation. Additionally, we improved the search function to serve better content – fostering intrinsic learning.

To help our users feel confident using the app, we've redesigned the login page and given the homepage a sleek header and thoughtfully crafted content. This approach carefully balances UI and UX to create a captivating experience for our users.

Improved Content Strategy with Personalised Recommendation and Reels on Homepage

finding

The redesigned homepage features course recommendations based on organizational popularity and individual user interests. As the user scrolls, featured reels and curated topics provide engaging previews of available courses. Visually appealing elements are added to encourage independent exploration, allowing the platform to gather data on user preferences and refine future recommendations.

Enhanced Global Search Mechanism for Content Discovery

The global search functionality has been enhanced with time-relevant data, incorporating trending keywords and user search history. Personalized recommendations are also featured to inspire further exploration. After searching, users can refine results by content type to discover new resources.

Appealing to Learner’s Intrinsic Motivation with Key Statistics

To motivate users to complete tasks and reinforce their progress, we incorporated several information banners that highlight these key principles:

  • Nudging: Gently encourage users to complete assignments directly on the homepage by reminding them about incentives like points and rewards.
  • Transparency: Provide learners with clear insights to help them make informed decisions, such as displaying the estimated time required to complete all assigned tasks on My Task page.
  • Accountability: Showcase user progress with clear statistics like completed courses and total learning hours to highlight user’s learning progress, thereby motivating user to continue learning with the app.

Flexible Learning with Robust Multimedia Mediums

finding

Recognizing that learners prefer engaging with interactive media like videos over plain text, we prioritized building a platform that supports video-based learning to allow learners access courses across diverse environments – both during and outside of work hours.

One key feature is the ability to download course content for offline viewing. This allows learners to conveniently discuss learning objectives with their managers at work and then download the relevant courses for later review at their own pace.

To improve the playback experience, users can adjust the playback speed. This allows them to quickly review familiar material or slow down the playback for a deeper understanding of complex topics.

Learning Experience Platform; Looking Forward

BAWANA’s position as a leading Learning Experience Platform (LXP) provider stems from its comprehensive approach to enhancing employee synergy and skill development through a robust platform and extensive educational library.

In our ongoing partnership with BAWANA, we aim to further elevate user’s satisfaction through enhanced gamification, optimised manager’s view and AI-driven support. Concurrently, we are focused on improving the administrative platform’s usability through streamlined navigation, draft management, and robust analytics to optimize learning outcomes. This dual focus ensures an effective and intuitive experience for all users, from learners to administrators.
